China earthquake: Oxfam responds

On Monday 12th May, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck China's south southwest province of Sichuan, leaving an estimated 50,000 people dead and millions homeless. Oxfam is responding to the crisis, assisting survivors in remote, rural areas throughout Sichan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces.

India: Organic farming turns a profit

In India we work with cotton farmers to find alternatives to using chemical pesticides, like organic farming.  Leisa MacLellan reports on how Oxfam supports women and men in their efforts to establish farming cooperatives, get the most from their land, and find new ways of establishing a sustainable livelihood.

Food crisis: Aid is not enough

Aid is urgently needed to address the immediate threat to poor people posed by higher food prices but money is not enough. World leaders at the UN meeting in Switzerland must take this opportunity to address the root causes of the global food price crisis, such as under-investment in agriculture and unfair trade rules.
