On July 26, 2023, the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland (CNSP) announced that it had overthrown the current President Mohamed Bazoum and his government. The reaction of part of the international community resulted in a number of individual and collective sanctions.

Oxfam reached 952,428 people across Syria and Türkiye with food, water and sanitation facilities, hygiene and health promotion, and protection interventions in the first six months of its emergency response phase. Oxfam thanks all our supporters and institutional donors who made this possible.

Back in November 2022, Zarifa joined Oxfam in a community consultation session for the “Sustainable safe access to water for Lebanese and refugees in Al Ain, Baalbek and Bchetfine, Chouf” project funded by the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF), to solarize the Al Ain water pumping station. 

Numerous challenges face humanitarian workers, often hampering our humanitarian efforts. We need to put our minds together to end the cycle of humanitarian crises across the globe, together we can do it.

The Humanitarian response in Yemen is taking place in one of the most complicated and challenging ‎environments in the world. Despite the multifaceted impact on humanitarian workers and the personal sacrifices they make, their dedication to help make a positive impact on people’s lives fuels their motivation to keep going.

The World Humanitarian Day – which began 19 August 2003 – is a day to commemorate all the lives and efforts of Oxfam staff and partners working on the frontlines amidst ever more complex and difficult environments.
