Leaders from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean will meet next week in Brussels for the first time in almost a decade. 

The next two weeks promise a whirlwind of discussion – and hopefully, commitment to action – on gender equality. World leaders, experts, and women from across civil society are gathering now: this is the Commission for the Status of Women, holding its sixty-sixth annual meeting (CSW66).

This report, co-written by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and Oxfam, seeks to show why it is urgent that the effectiveness of tax incentives is reviewed and assessed, in order to guarantee the rights of citizens. 

Given the tremendous financing needs, Oxfam supports a strong IDA20 replenishment. We are calling for a robust policy package that is appropriately ambitious for the next three years, aimed at propelling IDA countries forward towards a just economy after COVID-19 that is more equal and inclusive.

User fees for health care are a life or death issue for millions of people in poor countries. Too poor to pay, women and children are paying with their lives.
