12 months after Cyclone Idai battered Southern Africa, more than 8.7 million people remain in desperate need of food and water. We stand in solidarity with communities still recovering, and we celebrate the women who, despite losing everything, still work tirelessly to support each other and rebuild their lives.

More than 9,000 people are being helped by International agency Oxfam through its partners with safe water, following the earthquake.

Oxfam India is providing humanitarian assistance in the form of non-food items such as fleece blankets as well as dry food rations to the flood affected and shelter-less and coordinating its efforts with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and through its partners in the affected areas.

Oxfam and its humanitarian partners in the Philippines, the Humanitarian Response Consortium, or HRC, have begun an emergency response targeting communities hardest-hit by Typhoon Bopha (known locally as Pablo) on the southern island of Mindanao.

In the aftermath of the massive earthquake off the coast of Japan, Oxfam continues to closely monitor the situation and is beginning to respond where appropriate.

Daniel Gorevan, Humanitarian spokesperson of Oxfam said:

Oxfam is today scaling up its aid effort to reach 200,000 people affected by the severe floods that have hit Colombia in recent weeks. The floods have affected more than two million people in 28 out of 32 districts in the country.

Mobile water tanks, first aid, boats and local volunteers have been put on high alert by Oxfam as the worst floods in living memory surge south.

Local people are working around the clock to rescue families cut off by rising flood waters. Using wooden fishing boats, a navy of local fishermen known as "Malah" and volunteers are working with local groups, Oxfam, and the Pakistani authorities to evacuate more than 50,000 people.
