Brussels conference

In reaction to the pledges made today at the Brussels-Syria donor conference, Oxfam Syria’s Country Director, Moutaz Adham, said “The money pledged confirms fears that donors are not listening to the pleas of the millions of Syrians who have fled their homes and had their lives torn apart by ten years of conflict. 

Syrians who have already endured almost a decade of war and displacement are now facing unprecedented levels of hunger leaving millions of people acutely vulnerable to Covid-19, international agencies warned today ahead of a key annual conference on the crisis.

The war is not over: the dozens of people killed in recent airstrikes and shelling are testament to this.

Oxfam and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) today called on governments and other donors to provide more funding to help Syrians recover from eight years of conflict and rebuild their lives.
