Women from 11 conflict and post conflict countries share stories of fight to rebuild their countries and find peace a new photo collection that will be published on Word Peace Day on Monday, 21 September.

As many as 12,000 people could die per day by the end of the year as a result of hunger linked to COVID-19, potentially more than could die from the disease, warned Oxfam in a new briefing published today. The global observed daily mortality rate for COVID-19 reached its highest recorded point in April 2020 at just over 10,000 deaths per day.

In a co-signed letter to the European Parliament, 27 NGOs – including Oxfam - have expressed concerns at the recently signed EU-Afghanistan deal.

Oxfam has today suspended all of its operations in the Moria camp, on the Greek island of Lesvos, in response to the deteriorating treatment of migrants due to the recent deal struck between the EU and Turkey. The Greek authorities are transforming reception facilities into detention centers, where people will be held pending their mass return to Turkey.

Oxfam has launched an emergency appeal for survivors of the South Asian earthquake which hit Afghanistan and Pakistan earlier this morning. Oxfam teams are working with local authorities and organisations to assess the scale of the damage and teams are ready to respond where needed. 

At the conclusion of the December 4 London conference on Afghanistan, co-hosted by the UK and Afghanistan governments, Oxfam calls for sustained support for Afghanistan development and security. 

In response to the US Government's Afghanistan strategy review made public today, international humanitarian organization Oxfam is concerned about the lack of provisions for civilian protection as well as long-term support for healthcare, education, and women's rights.

International aid agency Oxfam today announced that its Humanitarian Haiti earthquake appeal was closing due to the overwhelming generosity of the public worldwide. Oxfam has received approximately $100m for its emergency work in Haiti.

An intensification and spread of violence threatens to push parts of Afghanistan towards a serious humanitarian situation.
