This paper outlines Oxfam’s position on the 19th Replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA19), the World Bank’s fund for the poorest countries. It calls on donors for a strong replenishment, and with that financial commitment, to agree on a strong programmatic and policy agenda for IDA19 across the agreed upon special and cross-cutting themes.

The organizations argue a strong focus on human development is needed to counter increasing inequalities and make sure no one is left behind.

The slight decrease in development aid spending in 2017 is bad news for the fight to end poverty and reduce inequalities, said Oxfam today in response to the publication of new aid figures by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Lebanon currently hosts the largest number of refugees per capita in the world. This paper urges donors and policy makers to ensure that new financing to Lebanon is rights-based, accountable to local populations, reflects local priorities and benefits the most vulnerable.
