“As the COP27 enters the final crucial days, it is a shame that rich countries – especially the US – continue to reject calls from the G77 Group, representing 134 developing countries, for a loss and damage fund to be established here at COP27."
Responding to the latest draft of the COP26 decision text released earlier today, Tracy Carty, head of Oxfam's COP26 delegation said: "This draft text is still missing some vital elements."
Renewed demands by the G77 for a UN-led body to stamp out tax havens were lauded by Oxfam today. G77 Ministers, who met on the side-lines of the UN General Assembly in New York, re-launched their proposal for a UN-led tax body, which was blocked at a UN meeting to discuss finance for development in Addis Ababa last year.
Commenting on the decision by developing countries to walk out of negotiations on loss and damage in the early hours of this morning at the UN COP19 climate talks, Tim Gore, Oxfam's climate spokesp
