As the Camp David G8 Summit winds down, international agency Oxfam criticized G8 leaders for failing to renew measurable funding and policy commitments to help address global food security.

International agency Oxfam warned that today’s announcement of the "New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition" focuses too heavily on the role of the private sector to tackle the complex challenges of food insecurity in the developing world.

On the eve of the G8 Summit, international agency Oxfam called on world leaders heading to Camp David to make predictable, measureable funding and policy commitments that will help 50 million people lift themselves out of poverty through sustainable, small-scale agriculture by 2015.

Despite its vital importance, West African agriculture is characterized by low productivity and beset with economic, social and environmental limitations.

As the Deauville Summit comes to a close, international aid agency Oxfam warned that the G8 is losing credibility by showing no real decision-making in its Communiqué.
