New IPC figures show that famine has been pushed back in South Sudan, but the food crisis continues to spread across the country and 6 million people are facing severe hunger and need immediate help.

One month since famine was declared in two areas of South Sudan, it is a race against the forthcoming rains to save lives Oxfam warned today. 

Oxfam is calling for immediate humanitarian and political action as the world stands on the brink of an unprecedented four famines.

Unless substantial funds are immediately provided to those working on the ground in South Sudan, humanitarian agencies will struggle to stop famine spreading across the country in the next few months.
