Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The hunger period has been prolonged, and people in flood affected communities cannot wait any longer.

A food crisis is looming in flood affected communities in Cambodia, international aid agency Oxfam warns. Oxfam estimates that 100,000 people are affected by the floods and 15,000 households are in need of immediate food assistance.

International humanitarian agency Oxfam announced today that Cambodia is still in emergency relief mode though flood waters in some areas are beginning to stabilize.

The water and sanitation expertise of Oxfam International and its partners will be central to its humanitarian operating strategy for the West African populations hit by flooding over the past week.

Oxfam International is to send humanitarian staff and emergency supplies to Burkina Faso in response to the recent floods, which have devastated the country.
