Following the release of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report for South Sudan, Oxfam’s County Director in South Sudan Ranjan Poudyal said:
"Almost five years of devastating conflict has brought South Sudan to its knees and left more people in more parts of the country suffering catastrophic levels of hunger.
“The recent peace agreement brought hope to many, but the reports of sporadic fighting since then are extremely worrying. To end the suffering and give people a genuine chance of improving their lives, lasting peace must hold in every part of the country.
“All parties to the conflict must commit completely to the ceasefire and those who break it must be held urgently and effectively to account.
"Aid organisations must also be given safe and unrestricted access to provide support to South Sudan’s people in all corners of the country."
