Dr Manenji Mangundu – Country Director SSD
For me, humanitarian work was a calling. I have seen people suffering not because of their choice but because of external facts that have happened to them. Personally, being part of the team that helped and seeing people get that hope they had lost, I felt rewarded.
Numerous challenges face humanitarian workers, often hampering our humanitarian efforts. We need to put our minds together to end the cycle of humanitarian crises across the globe, together we can do it.

I have witnessed a lot of crises and conflicts that have had a massive and negative impact on the people, and this is why I do what I do. Women and children are facing various protection risks including coercion and violence. My message on this World Humanitarian Day for those in power, stop the war and let us sustain peace for a better tomorrow.
