Global climate summit offers hope and reminders that climate change is happening now and more action is needed

Publicado: 14th Septiembre 2018

At the close of the Global Climate Action Summit, Oxfam senior climate change policy advisor Thomas Damassa said:

“This much is clear: the actions and announcements put forward at the summit give a glimpse of what is possible to address climate change when we come together. However, what’s also clear is that much more is needed and new voices - particularly those of women, youth, indigenous communities, and the most vulnerable - are essential to help catalyze new, equitable solutions to climate change.

“The impacts of climate change are happening now. The communities in the path of superstorms Typhoon Mangkhut and Hurricane Florence that will be forced to deal with the aftermath are stark reminders that we can't wait for another summit before more bold actions are taken.”
