Why security of land tenure is crucial for the Philippines’ post-Haiyan recovery

Building back better after Typhoon Haiyan requires more than houses on safe land. It requires measures to improve the security of land tenure for poor and vulnerable people. Security of land tenure is essential to reestablish shelter and livelihoods and to reduce the risks of chronic poverty. Without measures to promote land tenure security in the Philippines, there are risks that those most affected by the disaster will be more vulnerable to future disasters.
